Rotary Operation Share A Smile (ROSAS)
A JAPANESE team composed of six surgeons, two dentists and a nurse, together with doctors Patrick Chua and Christine Carvajal and nurse Lina Cerdena, operated on 23 patients with cleft lip and palate from Aug. 15 to 18 in Cebu City.
Dubbed as Rotary Operation Share A Smile (ROSAS), the mission, which was a joint project of the Rotary Club of Cebu and the Rotary Club of Yokosuka Japan with funding from Rotary International, was done at the Adventist Hospital on Tres de Abril St.
The beneficiaries have undergone post-operation checkup at the Southwestern University Dentistry Department, and that none of them suffered complications.
The same Japanese team has been passionately doing this mission for the past 13 years in the country.
“Screening the patients and accepting those with the most difficult cases that nobody else will accept, this team works for free and derives happiness in restoring human dignity. Truly, Rotary serving humanity,” the team said in a press release.
